Try-on day
How a try-on day goes
A try-on day is a Saturday morning set aside for choosing glasses. It runs about an hour, with an optical assistant at your side.
You arrive with the prescription
Bring the one from our exam or from another doctor. We also ask for your plan card, if you have one.
Your child tries on shapes
A tray of frames in children's sizes sits at a child's height. Your child picks a few to wear.
We check the fit
The assistant looks at the bridge, the width and the arms, with a mirror low enough for a small face.
You choose the lenses
The assistant explains the lens materials and coatings, what the doctor prescribed, and what is billed to a plan.
The order goes in
We tell you when the pair will be ready, and your child's measurements are written down.
Pick-up and adjustment
We fit the finished pair and adjust it. Come back whenever it needs tightening.
What's on the tray
Frame shapes, colors and materials so your child can compare. Every pair is unbranded in our room.

Your plan card
If a vision plan or medical insurance may pay part, we check before the visit.
Your child's current glasses
So we can compare the old pair to the new one.
